Progress

I'm still working on Round 11 of the WIOSNA 2015 Spring Doily, but I haven't been as dedicated as I'd hoped to be.  As if wedding shopping, quilt making, and attending a work conference for a few days wasn't enough, I dove into another book as well.  There just aren't enough hours in a day!

I've chosen to use more pink in this last round to pull out that small bit of earlier pink - I think it works nicely.  I see where I've missed joining a ring in between the florals though - on both sides!  Dang it.

I hate it when I do that!

I got another new shuttle from LaCossette yesterday - I couldn't resist.  These shuttles are so addicting - they are my absolute favorite to use.

Besides, who could resist Roses & Chocolate?

  1. I know what you mean about skipping a join and sometimes I mend it with sewing thread in matching color. love the roses on your new shuttle. This has been very busy time of year for me too and our wonderful weather keeps me doing other things besides tatting.

  2. Could you not....cut just the ring. Then the chain in the center. Unpick both sides, attach your chain at the base of the left ring. Redo and then knot it with a weavers knot to the base of the ring on the next motif?

    1. I could .... But I'm wondering if it will just be easier to stitch it with thread when I'm done. I haven't tried that cutting the ring yet - I'm a little nervous to do it!

  3. I've missed joins like that as well. I did cut out the offending ring and re-tat, mainly as a challenge to myself, and it worked! I love LaCossette's shuttles as well, but I'm trying really hard to be good and not spend a lot of money on shuttles... it's not working! ;-)

  4. Yes, you could cut the ring and just redo it but I think I'd use a little sewing thread. And I'm betting no-one would see it, either. The shuttle is gorgeous! I haven't broke down and bought any LaCossette shuttles yet. I do drool when I see them, though.

  5. Looking Gorgeous !!! Reminds me to finish mine ;-P I seem to have lost steam on that, what with so many new techniques to play around with !

My go-to, usually based on various factors pertaining to that particular project, would be to sew down the missed joins with sewing thread, as many have recommended. When the 2 picots are overlapped & sewn down, the 'omission' is not visible. I had to do it a couple of times in the 2014 doily.

  7. do you have any idea how much thread you used for this? i'm working on Renulek's Summer 2014 right now and Wiosna is probably my next "big" project.

    1. Hi Margaret - I'm sorry I didn't see your comment until now :(
I'm not sure how much thread I've used - I believe I have 2 balls each of white and the variegated. I haven't used a full ball of either, but I was worried I would run out if I didn't have extra.
