STILL on Round 9 . . .

. . . but, I'm OK with that!  It's coming along, just taking some time.

After reading Muskaan's tips and contemplating how to continue, I decided to stick with the direction I was going and plug away.  Stubborn Scandihoovian that I am, I finally got myself into a groove and am happily tatting for a little bit on this round each evening. I don't know if what I'm doing is the "correct" way to tat, but it's looking good enough for me.  (Is there really one "correct" way to tat?)  Renulek said it was a difficult round when she posted it, but that it would be worth it - so I'm trusting her.  And have you seen all her Easter eggs?  Just beautiful.  Someday I would like to make just one as beautiful as hers!

I really dislike being "behind" on this  - I was hoping to keep up with this doily each week, but I knew it would be difficult to do as these last few rounds got so large. This is probably why it's good for me to only have one round to concentrate on each week - I hate feeling like I'm not accomplishing what my mind thinks I "should" be!  My mind and my time don't always agree.

My day job is entering the busy season, and my daughter's wedding is coming up fast.  I also have a quilt top that needs to get done before mid-May.  So many things to get done and keep organized - but I seem to be at my best when I have a schedule with deadlines.  I like to plan my time and stay on track - and I really don't like to over-schedule either.  Very particular, I am!

  1. This round is looking good and neat, I think it takes longer because of all the little stitches and connections you make, and I think it is worth it you will be very happy with the next one it goes by much faster too, and then we gots just one more to go :)
Sounds like you need to have a quilting bee to help with your next project :) A wedding sound fun and you know what they say.. if you want something done give it to a busy person :) take care have a good holiday from Carollyn

    1. Thanks - I know I can't rush this round, but it will be so pretty when it's done!

  2. Cindy, your doily is looking great :-) And no, there is no single correct technique, style or method - that's the beauty of it all! We all choose what we are most comfortable with, or we learn to improvise - thus contributing to the knowledge body :-D

I still have about 15 repeats left on this round. And I agree, that it is a Beautiful round. In my case, this round has finally brought the whole doily 'together'. I could stop at this round - it looks that good ;-P

Enjoy all your projects, deadlines/schedule (big countries, banks, governments, influential movers & shakers keep pushing deadlines ahead - kick the can down the road - when it suits them ;-P), and have a great wedding :-)

    1. It's nice there are so many options when figuring out these more challenging rounds, isn't it?

  3. I haven't made it to round 8 yet, so I feel like you're way ahead of me! I try not to put too much pressure on myself. It kind of takes the joy out of tatting.

  4. Scandihoovian? Love that word! Never herd it before...

Your piece looks wonderful! Very nice. And we’re almost there! I too am behind - whatever that means. Nobody wins races in Tat-Land. Even when you are tatting as fast as you can to ensure that you don’t run out of thread!!!

  5. Wow, it's looking really good, and I love your spring-y colors! It's neat how you've alternated the white with the colors, very clever!
