Square/Diamond Motif

Ta da!  I love this little motif just as much as the first one!  Now I have matching motifs for the fabric I used on my bags - how fun is that?  Love the fabric, and love the motifs.

Such a talent to be able to whip up these patterns so quickly, and then have a video tutorial as well.  The pattern for this square/diamond is on Frivole's blog HERE with a video to soon follow.  I can see the visual circle in this little motif as talked about on the pattern blog post. Such interesting tricks our eyes can play on us!  I have been wondering about trying this in a smaller thread, and attaching it to the zipper for an added zipper pull. Maybe stiffened?  Hhhmmmm.

In my non-tatting life, my bathroom remodel is FINALLY complete, including inspections.  We can finally move our "stuff" back in - trying to be neat about it and only bring back the items we really need in the new vanity.  Wonder how long that will last?

  1. Well done! My fabric has arrived. I'll have to check and see if I have either of the patterns on my piece!

    1. You’ve got to have those motifs on your fabric with the selection you were getting! Can’t wait to see it 😊

  5. Three years ago I was fascinated by this fabric when you posted about it in your blog and showed us your lovely bags Your recent posts and bags got me interested all over again!

However, It seemed as though the fabric was no longer available at the fabric store where you purchased it. But thanks to the internet, I was able to track some down. The store I found - Let's Sew (Indiana) has about six yards of each color, and I purchased 1/2 yard each of the red, pink and black. I just received my package this morning, and although I have no idea what I'm going to do with these pieces yet, it satisfies me greatly just to look at it!

I don't think tatted lace has ever been featured in such a way before, and I can't help wondering what inspired the designer to create it! That person would be quite pleased to see all your beautiful bags, so skillfully made!

And, of course, Frivole took things one step further and duplicated actual tatted medallions. Plus her video is so beautifully done and contains several modern techniques.

And this all has evolved because a mysterious designer came up with the concept of showing tatted medallions in such an attractive way on fabric, in three different color swatches. But if it weren't for your blog, I certainly never would have known it existed. I wonder how many fabric stores carried it! I don't often shop for fabric these days, so I do thank you for bringing it to our attention.

I have 'some idea' of who the designer might be, but I'd have to do more research. I'd love to know the story behind it!

    1. I bet you’ll hoard the fabric until just the right thing catches your attention :) I’m glad to be your source of inspiration! I, too, would love to know the story behind this fabric - and what would inspire someone to come up with the design in fabric. Maybe we could convince the designer to create some more tatted fabric designs!
